SUMMARY
Strong Export Demand moving from WA to Eastern Australia
WA Growers very well sold
US Tariffs and High Corn Prices Impacting global supply
SA Grower cash bids improving but not across all Port Zones
Flexi Grain’s Barley Collaborative Export Program Closing soon.
Barley prices are firming in the face of strong global demand and limited selling by growers in the eastern states. As mentioned in previous updates, recent Australian barley export business has been dominated by WA growers who are now very well sold forcing buyers to move to the eastern states.
Black Sea and EU prices are very strong. Argentina’s exports are slowing down with dry conditions prevailing over the local corn crop. Both Canadian and Argentine local prices are being driven by higher corn prices – Canadian feeders will likely lose access to US Corn in US tariff fallout culminating in increased local barley demand.
Flexi Grain is seeing very good feed demand from the Middle East, where the market seems quite short. US tariffs are also supportive of barley demand (and sorghum) into China.
Locally we are seeing some decent grower bids appearing in SA, but not across all ports. The export demand is there to be done at good levels, well above the grower prices we have been seeing.
Flexi Grain has some limited remaining export capacity available for growers wanting to participate in a pending export sale. Flexi Grain is flagging a good opportunity to make some barley sales and capitalise on this situation in the next few weeks.
